History and background

ASG Eye Hospital was founded in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, in December 2005 by AIIMS alumni Dr. Arun Singhvi and Dr. Shilpi Gang. It has grown from a single hospital into one of India's largest eye-care networks, with more than 150 hospitals in over 80 cities in India and hospitals in Uganda and Nepal, and reports serving millions of patients. Its founders have received recognition including the All India Achievers Award and youth entrepreneur awards, and Dr. Singhvi received the ISCKRS Young Entrepreneur Award in 2022.

Specialities and centres of excellence

ASG treats cataract, LASIK, glaucoma, retinal diseases, oculoplasty, corneal problems, squint, paediatric ophthalmology and neuro-ophthalmology. Its cataract surgery uses premium intraocular lenses for faster recovery, LASIK includes Contoura and PRK, and retina services cover diabetic retinopathy treatment and vitreo-retinal surgery.

Technology and facilities

The network is known for femtosecond lasers for cataract surgery, LASIK lasers, advanced vitreo-retinal surgery, squint and oculoplastic surgery, cosmetic eye surgery, an approved eye bank and 24-hour emergency services for eye trauma. The Noida hospital is at V-21A, Atta Market, Sector 27, and diagnoses and treats complex eye diseases under one roof.

Before you travel

Preparation makes a big difference to how smoothly a medical trip goes. Gather your recent medical reports, imaging (with the discs or digital files), a list of current medicines and any previous operation summaries, and share them early so the hospital can give a realistic opinion before you travel.

Ask the hospital or your coordinator for the expected length of stay, the likely total cost and what it includes, whether a family member may accompany you, and what follow-up will be needed after you return home. Confirm the treating doctor's name, the accreditation of the department you will use and how emergencies are handled.

Most international patients enter India on a medical visa, which normally requires an invitation letter from the hospital. Check the validity of your passport, arrange travel insurance that covers medical travel where possible, and plan for extra days in case treatment or recovery takes longer than expected. Keep copies of all documents on your phone and in your luggage.

Noida is a planned city east of Delhi, about an hour from Indira Gandhi International Airport in normal traffic and connected to Delhi by the Metro and expressways. It has hotels and serviced apartments in its main sectors, and new districts such as Noida Extension and the Yamuna Expressway corridor are growing quickly. Taxis and ride-hailing apps are widely available. The climate follows the Delhi pattern, with hot summers, a monsoon from July to September and cool winters. Hindi and English are widely spoken.
